Details

Scott will present Brookings’ analysis of Pittsburgh’s economy and the opportunities and threats that exist given global economic and technological trends. He will also discuss how research universities like CMU can play a role in the regional economy.

Speaker's Bio: Scott Andes is a fellow with the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Initiative on Innovation and Placemaking. His work focuses on innovation strategies for cities, advanced manufacturing, and science and technology policy.

Prior to joining Brookings, he was a research analyst at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation where he authored and co-authored reports on innovation and domestic economic policy. He was also Special Assistant to Senator Chuck Schumer at the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee and has worked on a number of state and national political campaigns. Andes received his B.A. in Government from the London School of Economics and a master’s in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University.
