Social Justice refers to the equity of chances and is the prerequisite for peace, prosperity and cultural blossoming. In our troubled times, it has become a shared responsibility and has long gone beyond merely classic ‘social’ projects. For artists and cultural players, creating an impact on social justice through their
projects is not only an attitude, but a strategic challenge. In this talk, Leonie will explore mechanisms and tools to help integrate social justice features into arts and culture projects from different disciplines.

About the speaker:

Leonie Hodkevitch was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and raised in Vienna, Austria. She earned her Masters’ degrees in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Romance philology. Leonie’s fascination with and commitment to cultures led to her founding of Clearly Culture, a platform that pursues inclusion through innovative educational programs. Leonie is the director of the Cultural Management Postgraduate Certificate Course at the University of Vienna and member of the Jury of Experts for the European Union’s cultural funding. She teaches Cultural Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Competence for distinguished universities across Europe and the USA, municipalities, ministries, and organizations such as the IOM/ UNO. Leonie is also a published fiction author; her latest novel is: ‘Der Stadlbauer’ (2017).
